Unorthodox Tutelage[edit]
The monastery where you received your training chose to emphasize the training of some weapons over others.
Benefit: Choose a weapon (such as the longsword, sap, or dagger). Weapons of the chosen type count as special monk weapon for you.
Drawback: No exotic weapon counts as a special monk weapon for you.
Roleplaying Ideas: Characters with this trait may have trained themselves, had eccentric masters who taught them a very specific style to the exclusion of others, or were trained at unconventional monasteries.
