Tragically, the most important cost attribute for this flavorful item is not written down: the weight.

It's kinda cool and well fleshed out, but otherwise it's kinda like a miscellaneous item, something that appears as the result of a survival check to find food. I really want to like it, and I was very close to rating it with a like, but it kinda seems all over the place. It's a food, light source, and electric spell enhancer?

As an optional spell component, this is distinctively underwhelming, and in my view, not really very fitting with its flavour (again, pardon the awful, awful pun). However, at the same time, the flavour (noooooo) is actually very interesting, and even goes into details such as taste, which I think is very cool.

more or less echoing what MisterSinister said above, the real value here lies beyond the spell component aspect. It's certainly interesting, and I think it would have great value in providing the devil in the details that really help to sell an environment. I think you could make it do an additional one damage per die, or perhaps have the bonus damage scale with the result of the Craft check were you inclined to buff the component option, but that is hardly necessary.
