Dropping the smoke bomb with enough force to break it is a standard action, which does several things: first, it fills the square you were occupying and all adjacent squares with smoke for one round as per the smokestick item. Second, it allows you to teleport 30' in any direction as per the dimension door spell (though you may act afterwards). Finally, you become invisible (as per the spell) for one minute.
However, this item has some serious downsides. For five minutes after activating the smoke bomb you take a -5 penalty to AC and all saves, and double damage from all sources (after damage reduction or magic resist).
