Grapple/Shove and WeaponsEdit

Since this centaur is large but their manipulative appendages are medium (from my understanding), you might want to limit them to being able to grapple/shove as a medium creature, and use weapons that are medium in size like most PCs. Not all creatures gain extra damage using weapons from being large (see SRD5:Centaur for example). But I will add verbiage to the Hybrid Size trait to explicitly state this. --Rlyehable (talk) 18:56, 6 May 2022 (UTC)

Size and EmanationsEdit

Size being measured only from the head makes something really wonky.

For example, imagine a centaur paladin who gets Enlarged, meaning he's not 10' x 20' (presumably). His paladin Aura of Protection is out to 10 feet, meaning his backside isn't covered, despite him covering more space overall with this aura. When his backside is targeted with a saving throw, does he still get the benefit of Aura of Protection? Of course, the answer to this one is "yes", since Aura of Protection says, "...whenever you or a friendly creature within 10 feet...", but I'm certain there are other emanations that can get a bit wonky here, so it's something to keep in mind. --Ghostwheel (talk) 07:39, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

The reason for the Hybrid-size rule was due to past discussions about increase in aura range for a large creature. The majority opinion was that characters should not be large size due to this increase. I.e. a normal medium/small character that has a aura with a range of 5' could affect a maxumum of 8 other creatures (if surrounded); while a large (2x2) creature could affect up to 13 creatures. This multiplies if the aura's range is even greater. My compromise was to make the creature a hybrid size. I will add verbiage about a spell/effect always fully covering the centaur if the centaur so desires. --Rlyehable (talk) 18:56, 6 May 2022 (UTC)
