BlacksteelEdit

Often deeply dark gray to black in color, blacksteel is steel alloy infused with blood crystals. The resulting material is a dark colored metal, which has some properties of blood crystal. While it does not feed upon blood like blood crystals, blacksteel can draw dangerous bleeding wounds.Blacksteel is so costly that weapons and armor made from it are always of masterwork quality; the masterwork cost is included in the prices given below.

A weapon made of blacksteel inflict 1 bleed damage on a confirmed critical hit. This bonus bleed damage increases to 2 if the weapon has a x3 modifier, or 3 if the weapon has a x4 modifier. If the target was already suffering from bleed damage, the blacksteel weapon instead inflicts twice as much additional damage on a critical hit. If a weapon made of blacksteel is used to inflict bleed damage, except through the above ability, that bleed damage increases by 1.

While blood crystal is unsuitable for armors, the unique structure of blacksteel allows it to staunch bleeding wounds rather than feed on them. An armor made of blacksteel reduces bleed damage by 1 for light armor, 2 for medium armor and 3 for heavy armor. This cannot reduce the bleed damage below 1, however if the damage would be reduced below 0 the bleed instead deals 1 nonlethal damage. Additionally the bleed damage automatically stanches after 1 minute.

Type of Blacksteel Item Item Cost Modifier
Ammunition +50 gp
Light Armor +1,000 gp
Medium Armor +2,000 gp
Heavy Armor +3,000 gp
Weapon +2,500 gp
Shields +1,500 gp

Blacksteel has 30 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 10.
