The unforgiven were once a powerful race that held massive power, more than the other races that lived on the continent of Vaerdyn. They had a mighty empire built on slavery, however the humans, rylfyre, mortem and wulfyne that they had enslaved rebelled, together with the rest of the slaves they successfully destroyed the slaver race that had held them captive for countless years.
Before the alliance of races had completely wiped out their former masters, with roughly 1/100th of the race remaining alive, one mortem, who's name has been forgotten, decided to punish the race with more than mere death and he cursed the remainder of the former slavers. He used a powerful spell of transformation, cursing them with an almost animal intelligence while bending and stretching their bones outward to from an exoskeleton, this process filled the slavers with unimaginable pain and hatred, thinking this befitting for the horrible race the mortem caster used another ancient spell to freeze that feeling of pain and hatred into their minds causing them to suffer eternal torment, and branding them the unforgiven.
Thirty thousand years later those same beasts roam the land and the exact nature of their former misdeeds have been forgotten by almost every race in the continent of Vaerdyn, except the mortem. The fact that they were unforgiven for whatever caused their hideous lives has not been forgotten however and they are shunned by all, living out a bleak existence for an eternity.
PersonalityEdit
Because of their meager intelligence and the eternal pain and hatred they feel, they mostly have the same personality, in which everyone and everything is an enemy, though some do develop their own unique personality, but it is rare.
Physical DescriptionEdit
The unforgiven stand anywhere from 6 to 7' 6" feet tall. They appear to be a humanoid nearly completely encased in armor plating made of bone, however their glowing red eyes can still be seen as well as their sharp teeth. They have two skeletal systems: an exoskeleton and an endoskeleton. Their heads are completely hairless as their heads are encased in bone. The shape of their heads is nearly spherical in shape although some have small ridges and horns. There is no physical or biological variation in gender whatsoever.
RelationsEdit
They have no relations with any other races, other than their intense hatred for any other beings including other unforgiven. They do however have a special place in their heart for the mortem race, they hate them with more vigor and passion than they hate any other race although most unforgiven are not sure why they hate them, but that hardly matters to their animalistic mindset.
AlignmentEdit
Almost all unforgiven are evil, with only a select few being chaotic neutral, although even the few chaotic neutral have strong tendencies for wanton destruction and murder.
LandsEdit
Although they used to own one third of the entire continent of Vaerdyn they now own no lands whatsoever, though individual unofrgiven maintain a territory in which they kill any and all intruders, even if the opponent appears to be many times stronger.
ReligionEdit
They lack the intelligence or the spiritualism for worship, even if they did have the idea of worshiping a god, most would not have them as worshipers.
LanguageEdit
The Unforgiven understand all languages, although they can only speak Common, and they rarely waste time on talking or using their vocals, except for maybe a feral warcry or to scream in victory, although some like to instill a sense of fear in opponents by talking to them before battle.
Racial TraitsEdit
- +4 Strength, -2 Dexterity, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma: The unforgiven are insane, beast-like brutes who are not very smart or very well coordinated they also have no social skills whatsoever.
- Monstrous Humanoid: As monstrous humanoids, they are immune to spells that target humanoids only, such as charm person.
- Medium: As medium-sized creatures, the unforgiven have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- unforgiven base land speed is 30 feet.
- -2 to any Cha-based or Int-based skill.
- Low-Light Vision (Ex): An unforgiven can see three times as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. He retains the ability to distinguish color under these conditions.
- Darkvision (Ex): unforgiven can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but is otherwise like normal sight, and an unforgiven can function just fine with no light at all.
- Tormented Mind (Ex): The unforgiven are immune to fear and mind-affecting effects.
- Eternal Torment (Ex): The unforgiven does not gain the aging penalties/bonuses most others do and does not have a maximum age.
- +3 natural armor.
- Does not need to sleep or breathe although they can sleep if they want to.
- Automatic Languages: Common. See Language above.
- Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret languages such as Druidic), though unforgiven generally lack the intelligence for other languages.
