1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.
These two-handed shields have a spike placed at each of its vertical extremities. Sometimes they are built with hooks and blades meant for stabbing. A dueling long shield is a double weapon which grants the wielder a +2 shield bonus to AC when wielded. It is typically used as a protective two-handed weapon rather than a double weapon. Unless the wielder has the Improved Shield Bash then she loses her shield bonus to AC for 1 round if she uses the dueling long shield to make an off-hand attack. An off-hand attack with a dueling long shield counts as a shield bash when advantageous.
A dueling shield is enhanced as a double weapon and as a shield. They can be made of either wood or metal, a metal dueling shield weighs an additional 4 lbs and have an hardness of 10.
Pathfinder: A dueling long shield belongs to the close weapon group and has the double and blocking special weapon features.
