This set of rings grants the wearer one alternate form, as determined by the ring. If worn by a creature of less HD than the alternate form, the creature instead loses itself to the form, gaining its mental ability scores, for 12 hours or until the ring is removed or suppressed, forgetting anything about the incident.
The rings use some of the wearer's appearance when determining the alternate form, for example, hair color might translate to the color of the scales along the creature form's back.
An individual ring can be empowered, granting additional HD to the ring's alternate form. To add a HD, a ritual lasting 8 hours and materials must be expended costing the difference in cost between the two HD totals.
Example: To improve a base deinonychus ring's form from 4 HD to 5 HD, the cost would be 1,800 gp (the difference from 3,200 gp to 5,000 gp).
These rings are formulated using the following to determine market cost: HD×HD×200 gp

Prismasaurus Artifact Ring
This deep crystal ring is topped with a finely cut matrix opal. It never tarnishes, chips or cracks and always fits the finger of the wearer comfortably. When activated, it bursts with the terrible light of the mighty prismasaurus itself. WOO-WOO WOO-WOO!
The ring passively prevents the wearer's Intelligence from dropping below 4 (unless already lower) through damage, penalty or drain of any kind. Additionally, it provides resistance to [Light], [Darkness]] and [Shadow] effects, reducing damage from such effects by 2 per HD of the wearer and granting a +2 bonus on any save to resist.
When activated, unlike every other ring in the set, it does not wear off after 12 hours. The wearer transforms into the fearsome and herbivorous prismasaurus. Unlike an alternate form, this transformation wholly replaces the wearer's stats until the ring is removed or the wearer is killed, at which time, the transformation ends and the wearer is restored to the point they were when the ring was activated. If the form of the prismasaurus has been slain, it cannot be activated again for 1 year and a day. This is a major artifact, but occasionally shows up in auction houses, royal ransoms and exotic planar bazaars.
Market Price: 115,200 gp
