Powersaw[edit]
A chainsaw is a dangerous tool, but it is no weapon. At least not to those who aren't insane. For those that are, there's powersaws (and its piercing version, powerdrills). Applied to any one-handed or two-handed piercing or slashing weapon, it makes the business end of the weapon a rapidly rotating array of blades or a high speed augur so that you may grind and bore while you chop and stab. They are mundane tools and require a source of energy to operate, but magical versions can draw power from the very magic they are enhanced with.
Requirements[edit]
The creator must have at least 8 ranks in the appropriate craft skill and at least 8 ranks in Knowledge (engineering).
Powersaw Weapons[edit]
Cost: 750 gp
When not powered, powersaw weapons deal damage 1 size category smaller than normal as they are not really designed to be used like this. Toggling a powersaw weapon is a move action, or a free action if you have Quick Draw or Rapid Reload. When active it deals its normal damage but the noise it makes gives a -10 penalty to any Move Silently checks. It is not a subtle weapon. It consumes F.U.E.L. at a rate of 1 ounce per minute (minimum 1 minute consumed) and most Small and Medium powersaw weapons can hold 10 ounces. Larger or smaller weapons double or halve the amount of fuel it can store, minimum 1 ounce. Refilling the fuel tank is a 1 round action that provokes attacks of opportunity. Magical powersaws do not need fuel.
Multiple attacks with a powersaw in a single round count as a single attack for the purpose of breaching damage reduction and hardness. It also gives a +2 bonus to sunder checks. Effects that dismember such as vorpal, effects which cause bleeding, and the GrindingBoVD enhancement have a 10% on its price.
