Hey, welcome to the wiki! It's always good to get new community members who are intent on improving the quality of the content here. However, we have a policy, unusual for wikis, that you might not have been aware of -- each article is the property of one or several authors, who retain creative control over the contents of their page. This means that, except for administrative reasons, pages may only be edited inasmuch as the author allows. If you check the author template of a page, you'll see a field entitled "Editing" where it explains what sorts of edits may be freely made -- any other sorts of edits need to be discussed on the talk page first.
