Serpentine[edit]
A serpentine item seems to have the pattern of scales on its surface, and a curved wavy appearance in either form or function.
The serpentine template can be added to any suit of armor, shield, or weapon crafted by a Yuan-ti, Naga, or other snake-like creature or those with the right materials. The created items have a scaly texture to them, and are either done in stylized curved or are optimized for undulating movement. A serpentine armor or weapon has all the base statistics of the normal item except as noted here.
Requirements[edit]
The creator of a serpentine item must either be reptilian or have poison use as a class feature, as well as at least 10 ranks in the appropriate Craft or 10 ranks in Craft Poison.
Serpentine Armor and Shields[edit]
The serpentine template can be added to any suit of armor or shield. The armor takes on a scaled appearance, and cling to the body tightly as if a second skin. This does not effect the effectiveness of the armor or shield at all.
Cost: 1000 gp
Affinities: Animated; Shadow (normal, improved, and greater); Silent Moves (normal, improved, and greater); Slick (normal, improved, and greater); Wild. Serpentine armor and shields are like a second skin and feel almost alive.
Special: Serpentine armor and shields help promote movement for crawling and climbing. You take half your armor check penalty for climb and escape artist checks (round down, minimum 0), and you may move at half your normal speed while prone.
Serpentine Weapons[edit]
Serpentine weapons are curved, wavy, or are covered in snake patterns and designs with unusual blood grooves which seem to be slick with an ever-present venom. When not observed you can swear you see it undulating out of the corner of your eye.
