Unlike its smaller counterpart, this wickedly edged wooden or metal fan is unmistakably a weapon and cannot be disguised as anything else. A war fan may be opened or closed by the wielder as a swift action. When opened, it deals slashing damage and the wider area grants the wielder a +1 bonus to their Armor Class. While closed, the fan's more fragile components are concealed by the hardened frame, making the fan deal bludgeoning damage. In addition, closing the fan allows for the concentration of the force of an attack into a smaller area, conferring a +1 bonus on damage rolls for attacks made with it.

While closed, the fan's vanes stack into a solid bar making the fan deal bludgeoning or piercing damage in a thrust. 2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

This beautiful metal or ironwood fan hides a wicked set of razor edges sleeved inside its beautiful silk or similarly tough fabric skin. Those not proficient or familiar with this weapon must make an investigation check to realize it is a weapon. A war fan may be opened or closed by a wielder who is proficient in its use as a swift action. While closed, the fan's vanes stack into a solid bar making the fan deal bludgeoning or piercing damage in a thrust. When opened, it deals slashing damage and the wider area grants the wielder a +1 bonus to their Armor Class. These additional benefits are also only conferred upon a wielder who is proficient in the use of the fan.
