This curious and absurd weapon consists of a pair of pistols attached by a chain, like nunchucks. They can be used as normal nunchucks (Using the first set of stats - Light Melee, 1d6 20/x2 Bluedgeoning), or fired as ranged weapons (The second set of stats, Light Ranged, 1d8 20/x3 Piercing, Range Inc. 15ft). The ranged attack uses [[Cartridge, Bullet (3.5e Equipment) | Bullets]] for ammunition, each Gunchuck holding a full case of 20 shots. and reloading a full case is a move action that provokes attacks of opportunity. Gunchucks count as Nunchaku for all intents except proficiency, and which means they are counted as special Monk weapons, thus being eligible for Flurry Of Blows.

Exotic Light Projectile Melee

Cost: 150 gp
Damage (Small): 1d4/1d6

1. See Damage Increases by Size to calculate the damage for a weapon larger than Medium or smaller than Small.
2. Weight figures are for Medium weapons. A Small weapon weighs half as much, and a Large weapon weighs twice as much.
3. When two types are given, the weapon is both types if the entry specifies "and", either type (player's choice at time of attack) if the entry specifies "or", or each end of the double weapon is a different type if the entry specifies "/".
4. The hp value given is for Medium armor, weapons, and shields. Divide by 2 for each size category of the item smaller than Medium, or multiply it by 2 for each size category larger than Medium.

This curious and absurd weapon consists of a pair of pistols attached by a chain, like nunchucks. They can be used as normal nunchucks (Using the first set of stats - Light Melee, 1d6 20/x2 Bludgeoning), or fired as ranged weapons (The second set of stats, Light Ranged, 1d8 20/x3 Piercing, Range Inc. 15ft). The ranged attack uses Bullets for ammunition, each Gunchuck holding a full case of 20 shots. and reloading a full case is a move action that provokes attacks of opportunity. Gunchucks count as Nunchaku for all intents except proficiency, and which means they are counted as special Monk weapons, thus being eligible for Flurry Of Blows.

These weapons require deft fingers and quick reflexes to use, and thus the appropriate proficiency feat requires a Dexterity score of 16 or higher. Users with Exotic Weapon Proficiency gain the following benefits.

  • Swift Bang: Proficient users can fire Gunchucks in melee without provoking attacks of opportunity, simply because the action occurs too quickly for most to react.

  • Boomstick: As a free action, upon landing a melee attack with a Gunchuck, you can fire it as part of the action, adding the ranged attack's damage to the melee attack without requiring another attack roll. This extra damage is added to the attack, rather than being a second attack, and thus is good at punching through Damage Reduction. This additional bullet attack uses no attack roll and thus cannot crit on its own, but unlike other bonus damage dice added onto weapon attacks, is multiplied on a successful critical hit (Using the melee attack's multiplier).

  • Quick Fingers: Any time you strike with a Gunchuck in melee without using the Boomstick ability, you can reload 1 bullet into that Gunchuck as part of the action.
