This invocation replicates the effect of black tentacles, except that the tentacles are made of energy from the Art Flow. This means that they can't touch water without dissolving, nor can they touch ice without freezing up to the point of uselessness; they cannot be conjured on water or icy surfaces, water and cold effects dispel the tentacles wherever their areas overlap, and a creature with the Water or Cold subtype destroys any tentacles it touches, so as such a creature moves through the affected area, it actually leaves behind a trail that other creatures can pass through without being molested.
Being made of Art Flow energy does have a nasty effect for victims, however — the tentacles are poisonous. Any creature without the Water or Cold subtype that enters the area of the tentacles must make a Fortitude save each round or be poisoned as though by your paint shot as the tentacles brush up against them and attempt to seize them. Creatures being grappled by the tentacles are poisoned twice if they fail their saves (meaning that they suffer twice the ability damage).
If you also know transform life to art and you are within 60 feet of the tentacles, you may terminate the painter's tentacles as though dispelling them as a full-round action. If you do so, all creatures being grappled by the tentacles must succed on a grapple check or be trapped within orbs of paint, brought to you, and levitated in front of you as if hit with an augmented paint shot. Since this ends the painter's tentacles effect, creatures that are not trapped within paint orbs are released from the tentacles and may move normally on their next turn.
This invocation is a [Paint] effect.
