Adventuring Intern

You count as having one level in a class you don't actually have, thanks to being trained by adventurers during your NPC days.

Benefit: Choose a class. You count as having one level in that class for the purpose of pre-requisites. For example, you could take something that requires you to have a monk's AC bonus, or have a caster level of one in sorcerer, or such. This virtual level does not stack if you actually take class levels in said class. You might gain entry to prestige classes and the like, but be unable to take advantage of scaling or other features as you don't actually have a level in the chosen class.

Drawback: Your training distracted you from the actual class you took. You count as one level lower in all the classes you actually have for the purpose of pre-requisites. You still keep the correct level of scaling (your caster level would not go down for example) but qualifying for prestige classes and feats are delayed (you could not take Weapon Specialization until Fighter 5th).

Roleplaying Ideas: You were raised by monks, or wizards, or paladins. You didn't follow their ways but that doesn't mean you didn't pick up a bit of what's going on. Did you resent your time there, or is this useful? Perhaps your spellcasting parents disapprove of your focus on fighter studies in spite of trying to make you a wizard.
