== Tormentor ==

Tormentors have an incredible intellect when it comes to inventing new methods of torture.

A torturer inflicts unspeakable pain on their victims and uses their agony against them.

=== Tools of the Trade ===

Starting at 3rd level, choose a proficiency between Intimidate or Torturer's Tools.

If you are already proficient in both, you can choose another artisan’s tool to gain proficiency in.

=== Tormentor Spells ===

Also, at 3rd level, you have some spells always prepared, when reaching certain levels in this class, as shown on the Tormentor Spells table. 

These spells count as artificer spells for you, but do not count against the maximum number of artificer spells you can prepare.

=== Agony Device ===

Also at 3rd level, you have constructed a device capable of inflicting unspeakable pain and suffering.

This instrument resembles a heavy metal gauntlet in which several torture instruments have been installed. It can be used as torturer's tools.

Additionally, you can use it to attack in melee as an accurate weapon and deal 1d4 + bonus Strength damage. Each turn, before you hit, you decide whether this damage is bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing.

Finally, for every 5 damage inflicted, in a single round, by you on another non-consenting creature, the device accumulates 1 Pain Node, up to a maximum equal to your proficiency bonus.

You can use an action of attack melee, spending PN, to deal 1d6 psychic damage to your target per PN spent. This damage can’t be used to gain more PN.

=== Torturer's Arts ===

At 5th level, you can use your agony device to get the maximum result from the torment of others.

When you attempt an Intimidate or torturer's tools check, if you use your agony device, you gain advantage on that check. You can use this ability once per Intelligence bonus. You regain uses after a short or long rest.

Additionally, the damage dealt by your agony device increases to 1d6 + Strength bonus, and the damage becomes magical.

=== Ray of Pain ===

Again at 5th level, you can deal psychic damage with your agony device even from a distance, with a range of 30 feet, using a ranged attack instead of melee.

You can use this ability once per Intelligence bonus. You regain all uses after a short or long rest.

=== Agony Caress ===

Starting at 9th level you can use your agony device to leave your victims wracked with pain.

You can force a target that has taken psychic damage from your agony device to attempt a Constitution or Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Intelligence bonus) to avoid one of the following conditions:
*Blinded
*Deafened
*Poisoned
*Prone
*Frightened

Again from 9th level, by spending 5 PN, you can capture an opponent within 18 meters in a thorny trap. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency bonus + Intelligence bonus) or be restrained for one round for an Intelligence bonus.

The target can take actions, but any action that is not used to break free, or purely mental, deals the target 1d4 + Intelligence bonus magical piercing and slashing damage.

To free themself, the target can use an action to attempt the Dexterity saving throw again.

This damage can be used to recover Pain Nodes.

You can use this ability twice. You regain all uses after a long rest.

=== Master of Pain ===

From 15th level, you get the following benefits:
*You can gain a number of Pain Nodes equal to double your proficiency bonus.
*The damage dealt by your agony device increases to 1d10 + Strength bonus.
*The damage dealt by Iron Maiden increases to 1d6 + Intelligence bonus.
