This dark and unholy spell has a dual effect, firstly it place the target under the caster's control as per [[SRD:Dominate Person|''dominate person'']]. However while doing so it also turn the creature into  a drider, giving the target the [http://archive.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mm/20011118a drider] template for the duration of the spell.  The effect of the spell is not instantaneous, the transformation happen over the course of 3 rounds which allow the effect to be interrupted (such as by [[SRD:Dispel Magic|''dispel magic'']] or [[SRD:Break Enchantment|''break enchantment'']]). If either effects are entered prematurely, both immediately end.

After the effect end, the target's mind is left a total wreck by the demonic influence that took control of her body. She must make a [[Will]] save or turn into a drider permanently and become insane (as per [[Insanity Variant (3.5e Spell)|''variant insanity'']]) and chaotic evil. The effect may be reversed with a [[SRD:Wish|''wish'']] or [[SRD:Miracle|''miracle'']]. The creature take a -1 penalty to it save for each day it was under the effect of this spell (to a maximum of -5), it does not need to make the save if the transformation was interrupted. A successful [[Will]] save allow the creature to return to it base form.
