[[Summary::A telescopic shaft allow the wielder to extend or retract the shaft of her weapon as a move action.]] This effectively increase or decrease the reach of a weapon. Despite the name this design has been successfully integrated on swords and other weapons with hilt, however doing so is more costly.
    
=== Requirements ===

Crafting a telescopic shaft require knowledge in mechanical device, as such mechanism are often used in traps. This item template may only be used on a weapon with a hilt or shaft. To craft a compact weapon the crafter must have 8 or more ranks in [[SRD:Craft Skill|craft]] (weaponsmithing) or [[SRD:Disable Device Skill|Disable Device]].

== Telescopic Shaft on Weapons ==

If placed a weapon without reach, the telescopic shaft grant the weapon reach when extended. As any other weapons with reach it does not threaten creatures adjacent to the wielder. If added to a weapon with reach the shaft can be retracted. Retracting the shaft cause the weapon to lose reach, gaining the ability to strike at adjacent targets.
