A talisman item is an item template for (mostly) wondrous items, it allow the item and the caster to still retain a magical connection even if the item is not worn. A talisman item behave like it base objects in every way except it has the special ability to bound with it wearer or wielder. If worn for over 24 hours the wearer will be able to perform a special magical ritual, requiring an uninterrupted hour. Once the ritual is completed the item become bonded with the wearer, allowing her to still receive mechanical bonuses from the item even if it is not worn as long as the item is on her person or within close range.

The ritual however prevent the bonded item's owner to benefit from other magic items that take the same slot. By example if a sorcerer make a cloak of charisma his bonded item he benefit from it even if the item is not currently worn but is on his person or within close range but cannot benefit from another magic cloak or other shoulder item she don. 

The talisman item owner is always able to locate her talismans as [[SRD:Locate Object|''locate object'']] and [[SRD:Find the Path|''find the path'']] at will. The ritual can be broken with hour long ritual which do not require the item. As soon as the bond is broken the user lose the abilities granted by the talisman item (unless worn as normal) and become able to benefit from magic items normally. The bond is also broken if the talisman is destroyed.
  

While it generally applies to wondrous item, this item template can be also be applied to other type of item with the DM's discretion.
