If the target is wielding a shield, the shield transforms in appearance in a regular polygon of glowing (or pure black) force, according to the target's preference. If the target is not wielding a shield, a regular polygon of glowing (or pure black) force (according to the user's preference) forms on the arm of their choice. This shield gives a +2 shield bonus to AC. Such a shield cannot be passed on to anyone else, and if it affects an already-existing shield, giving that shield to anyone else causes it to lose these properties.

Additionally, the target gains a +2 bonus to AC and saves against any attacks or abilities coming from a user that has an opposed alignment component.
