Activating this ability is a non-action, and it lasts until the triggering damage is healed, or 10 minutes, whichever is less.  For example, you could take 7 Constitution damage and 2 Wisdom damage, and gain +6 Strength.  A few rounds later, you take 4 Charisma drain and gain +4 Constitution.
