This tiny bottle holds about fifty grams of a black liquid, which is in fact a magical ingested poison. When the bottle is uncorked the liquid inside gives off a strong acidic smell and smoke slightly. After being opened, the mortal poison loses potency after 15 minutes and cannot be magically preserved. If drank, the poison deals 1 points of [[Constitution]]  [[SRD:Ability Burn|Burn]] each round for 5  minutes with no saving throw allowed. A [[SRD:Neutralize Poison|''neutralize poison'']] or stronger effect is the only way to halt the mortal poison. The ability burn inflicted by mortal poison heals at the rate of 1 per week, or 2 per week if the character spends the entire week in full bed rest.

For all of its potency, the mortal poison is fragile. Beside expiring quickly, it is ruined if mixed with any other liquid and thus cannot be concealed in food and such. It has a terribly bitter taste, and most unaware drinkers would spit it out before it has any effect. Rather it is a common tool for execution, or suicide.
