== Lunarite ==

In the folklore tales of the nomadic tribes lining the Spine of the World, this illustrious jade-colored mineral is said to have come down from the moon. Though these are probably 'facts' that were tentatively corroborated by the finding of a large deposit of the stuff right after a lunar eclipse sent the moon-worshiping Mountainlanders into a tumultuous uproar, the refined version of the material, known as ''lunarite steel'', does have certain qualities pertaining to the moon.

Lunarite in both its mineral and refined steel forms glows faintly in the dark, providing jade-colored shadowy illumination in areas of total darkness out to 15 feet. When exposed to light from the full moon however the brightness of a sufficiently large deposit of lunarite rock or a lump of particularly pure lunarite steel increases to that of [[SRD:Lamp|lamplight]].  

Lunarite interacts with illusions and ethereal objects in a strange manner, which is fitting as illusion magic and ghostly apparitions are both said to have great affinity with lunar light. Lunarite objects interact with illusions as if they are more substantial than they truly are, and when imbued with enough magic they can even affect the ethereal and incorporeal to a certain extent.

=== [[SRD:Armor|Armor]] and [[SRD:Shield|shields]] ===

When equipped with a lunarite armor and/or shield, one-quarter of the combined AC bonus from lunarite equipment counts towards your touch AC, rounded down. When directly exposed to moonlight, this increasses to half the combined AC bonus. If the armor or shield already grants (part of) its AC to your touch AC, these effects stack up to a maximum of the armor or shield's full AC.

When wearing a lunarite steel armor, any [[SRD:Incorporeality|incorporeal]] touch attacks have a 50% chance to become regular touch attacks. If the armor is magical with at least a +1 [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]], it automatically has the [[SRD:Ghost Touch (Armor Enhancement)|ghost touch]] quality. The wearer of a magical lunarite steel armor gains its raw [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]] as a bonus to saving throws against magical [[SRD:Illusion School|illusions]] of any kind. Lunarite steel armor and shields have no [[SRD:Arcane Spell Failure Chance|arcane spell failure chance]] when casting spells of the [[SRD:Illusion School|illusion]] school.

With but a bit of focus, the wearer of a full-body lunarite steel armor can treat nearby illusions as if they were substantial to him. For example, he may touch or pick up an illusory object or walk safely over an illusory bridge across a deep chasm even if he is aware of and has disbelieved the illusion with a successful [[SRD:Will|Will]] save, however to do so safely he must make either a [[SRD:Concentration Skill|Concentration]] or [[SRD:Autohypnosis Skill|Autohypnosis]] check against the save DC of the spell or effect that caused the illusion.

Lunarite steel armors and shields ignore the armor-bypassing effects of [[SRD:Brilliant Energy|brilliant energy]] weapons and equivalent effects that deal physical damage.

Lunarite steel armors and shields have their [[SRD:Armor Check Penalty|armor check penalty]] lessened by 2 points.

=== [[SRD:Weapons|Weapons]] ===

When using a non-magical lunarite steel weapon, any attacks made against [[SRD:Incorporeality|incorporeal]] foes are treated as coming from a magical weapon. Furthermore, a magical lunarite steel weapon with at least a +1 [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]] automatically has the [[SRD:Ghost Touch (Weapon Enhancement)|ghost touch]] quality.

A magical lunarite steel weapon gains a +2 damage bonus for every point of magical [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]] it has, instead of +1. This extra damage is not physical but rather typeless, drawing from [[Aetherion (3.5e Other)|aether energy]]. On a successful [[SRD:Critical Hit|critical hit]] with a magical lunarite steel weapon, the target must make a [[SRD:Will|Will]] save (DC 10 + half the wielder's [[SRD:Base Attack Bonus|base attack bonus]] or [[SRD:Caster Level|caster level]] (whichever is higher) + twice the weapon's [[SRD:Enhancement Bonus|enhancement bonus]]) or incur 2 points of [[SRD:Intelligence|Intelligence]], [[SRD:Wisdom|Wisdom]] and [[SRD:Charisma|Charisma]] damage. A lunarite steel weapon can critically hit [[SRD:Elemental Type|elementals]].

A lunarite steel weapon deals no added damage from enhancement to [[SRD:Construct Type|constructs]] or [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]].

=== Catalysts and Foci ===

Lunarite steel is a highly prized catalyst for specific forms of magic, and is often used to make rods, staves and wands in order to improve or alter their effects as desired:

A lunarite steel item used as an arcane focus is capable of making illusions more powerful. An [[SRD:Illusion School|illusion]] spell cast with such an item as a focus is strengthened as if cast through a [[Tin Crystallization Catalyst (3.5e Equipment)|tin crystallization catalyst]] without requiring additional spell slots. Any lunarite steel item can become an arcane focus, inclusing weapons, armors and shields. 

A lunarite steel item used as a divine focus is capable of altering the nature of [[SRD:Light Effect|light]]-type spells. Such spells, such as ''[[SRD:Searing Light|searing light]]'' or ''[[SRD:Sunbeam|sunbeam]]'', become moonlight versions of themselves instead, and the required save (if any) becomes a [[SRD:Will|Will]] save. These spells are harmless to [[SRD:Undead Type|undead]] and even [[SRD:Vampire|vampires]] can walk under the moonlight versions of these spells without incurring damage. Instead, the increased effects of these spells against light-vulnerable creatures affect [[SRD:Elemental Type|elementals]] and non-[[SRD:Native Subtype|native]] [[SRD:Outsider Type|outsiders]] instead.

Charge-dependent magic items made from lunarite steel are more powerful. [[SRD:Wands|Wands]] and [[SRD:Staffs|staves]] made of lunarite steel grant a +2 bonus to [[SRD:Caster Level|caster level]] and a +1 to the spell DC of any [[SRD:Illusion School|illusions]] or [[SRD:Light Effect|light]] spells cast through them. Furthermore, during any night that a lunarite steel item with charges is exposed to moonlight for at least 4 hours, it regains 20% of its total charges.

== Statistics ==

Metal items fashioned from lunarite steel weigh 30% less than those fashioned from ordinary steel.

Lunarite steel has 20 hit points per inch of thickness and hardness 13.

== Value ==

Lunarite steel armor and shields have the cost of a regular armor of its kind, plus an additional 1,000 gp per point of AC bonus.

Lunarite steel weapons have the cost of the base weapon +5,000 gp. Magic lunarite steel weapons add an additional 25% to their combined enhancement value.

Lunarite steel arcane foci increase the base price of the item by +2,000 gp per level of spell they are meant to affect, to a maximum of +18,000 gp for 9th-level spells.

Lunarite steel divine focu increase the base price of the item by +5,000 gp.

Lunarite steel [[SRD:Wands|wands]] and [[SRD:Staffs|staves]] have the cost of the base item +30%.

Other than the above items, lunarite steel is priced at roughly 200 gp per pound.
