===Adaptation===

''Deep Sea:'' Pale ghostly versions of their surface kin, they suffer even more from the sun but are unhampered by darkness.  Gain extraordinary See in Darkness (as a [[SRD:Devil|devil]]) and are immune to the crushing pressures of the depths as well as having [[SRD:Endure Elements|endure elements]] (cold) at all times.  However Light Blindness penalties and duration are doubled, and they gain the [[Sunburnt (3.5e Flaw)|sunburnt]] flaw with no bonus feat.

''Maddened:'' These kuo-toa are already hopelessly insane.  They take a -4 penalty against confusion effects and suffer from two [[Psychosis (3.5e Condition)|minor psychosis]] effects.  In return they are immune to all charm and compulsion effects (except confusion effects), and gain Slippery Mind as a [[rogue]].  If they gain Slippery Mind again it provides a second, third, or more rerolls on the same effect in subsequent rounds.
