The halfway shortbow is a ''masterwork [[SRD:Shortbow|shortbow]]'' which can be drawn and fired at an extraordinary rate, at the cost of damage.  As a swift action you can activate its function for 1 round and double the number of attacks you make with it, but all damage is halved (including from effects such as bonus damage and enhancements).  The biggest advantage is increasing the chances that you will hit something at all.  This doubling of attacks does not account for bonus attacks from feats, abilities, or spells such as ''[[SRD:Haste|haste]]'' which are added afterwards.
