This is one of the signature invocations of the paint-born [[Art Flow User (3.5e Prestige Class)|Art Flow User]] [[Drawcia (3.5e NPC)|Drawcia]], which she used to put the Star Warrior Kirby at a severe disadvantage when he sought to oppose her scheme to merge [[Art Flow (3.5e Location)|the Art Flow]] with [[SRD:Material Plane|the Material Plane]]. Since then, it has been mimicked by spellcasters with a love of curses.

By directing a fearsome hex at an opponent within Medium range (100 feet + 10 feet per caster level), the caster of <i>goodbye limbs</i> causes all of the opponent’s limbs (arms, wings, legs, tail, etc.) to abruptly vanish unless it succeeds on a Fortitude save to withstand the curse (undead and constructs must succeed on a Will save instead). This renders the creature unable to take any actions requiring the use of its limbs. For most creatures, that includes any non-supernatural movement, most physical attacks, and interacting with objects. (It is still able to take purely mental actions and actions that only require its head to be intact, such as casting a spell with no somatic components or using a bite attack.) A creature that requires the use of its legs to move is [[Immobilized (3.5e Condition)|immobilized]], [[SRD:Prone|prone]], and most likely [[SRD:Helpless|helpless]] if it also needs its arms to defend itself. The loss of the target’s limbs also causes whatever it was holding in said limbs to fall to the ground. A creature that was using its limbs to fly is no longer able to fly and falls to the ground. A creature that was using its limbs to swim can no longer swim and may drown. A creature that has no limbs to begin with (such as a snake, a beholder, or a gelatinous cube) is unaffected by this invocation.

This curse is usually permanent until dispelled (and dispelling it automatically restores the victim’s limbs to full functionality). The usual rules for curse removal apply ([[SRD:Dispel Magic|''dispel magic'']] will not work, and the level of the effect is too high for [[SRD:Break Enchantment|''break enchantment'']] to be effective, but [[SRD:Remove Curse|''remove curse'']] may work). A [[SRD:Limited Wish|''limited wish'']], [[SRD:Wish|''wish'']], or [[SRD:Miracle|''miracle'']] breaks the curse and restores the victim’s limbs. If the victim can regrow its limbs on its own (such as via [[SRD:Regeneration|regeneration]]), the regeneration will eventually break the curse itself and grow the limbs back, but it will take a ''long'' time; specifically, the normal time for the limbs to regrow is multiplied by your caster level + 10.

Though this invocation was invented by an Art Flow User, its nature as a curse means that warlocks tend to be better at casting it. Warlocks cast <i>goodbye limbs</i> as easily as a 6th-level invocation and with the raw magical force of a 8th-level invocation. This means that for a warlock, it counts as being both 6th level and 8th level — whichever suits the warlock best. (That means, among other things, that it breaches or interacts with most magical effects and sets its save DC as though it was an 8th-level invocation, but sets its Concentration DC and minimum Charisma score and evades the notice of magical restrictions as though it was a 6th-level invocation.)
