Though beautiful on the outside, this cursed jewel is said to have been the vitals to a terrible demon that devoured hope itself.  When equipped on one's person, it allows them to use the following spell-like abilities, using their highest mental ability modifiers to determine DC, and the users character level for caster level.

1/day-''[[SRD:Crushing Despair|crushing despair]]'', ''[[Daunting Ray (3.5e Spell)|daunting ray]]'', ''[[SRD:Greater Dispel Magic|greater dispel magic]]'' (against mind-affecting or morale bonus effects only).

In addition it has a unique spell-like ability usable 1/day.  All creatures in a 30 ft radius centered on you are struck with a green flash of light and must make a [[Will]] save or lose the will to live.  They can take any actions but cannot make any attacks (anything which would break an ''[[SRD:Invisibility|invisibility]]'' spell) for 1 minute, have all morale bonuses suppressed, and take a -4 penalty on saves against anything which provokes a morale penalty.  At the end of one minute, they must make another [[Will]] save or be afflicted by ''[[SRD:Death Urge|death urge]]''.  This is considered an 8th level spell, and is an enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting] effect.

The item is found or harvested, not crafted, but has a value for the purposes of selling.
