If a creature is below 50% of it maximum hit points, it instead take 1d8+1 damages per caster level (to a maximum of 10d8+10). After the initial casting you may concentrate on the spell, redirecting the beam to a new target every round, to a maximum of three ray attacks after 2 rounds of concentrations.
