In Avengers in Lankhmar, the player characters, and three competitor teams of non-player characters, search Lankhmar for the fugitive assassin Elad Edals, working with a timeline of events cross-referenced against street maps. The rogue has set traps for his pursuers, which the characters must contend with. The path and location of Edals at any time is fixed, but the characters are free to wander the city to look for clues or involve themselves in the many diversions that Lankhmar offers. If the party locates him or any of the other search teams, the adventure outlines specific game conditions, but everything else is left to random rules and the Dungeon Master's imagination.
