Unlike its smaller counterpart, this wickedly edged wooden or metal fan is unmistakably a weapon and cannot be disguised as anything else. A war fan may be opened or closed by the wielder as a swift action. When opened, it deals slashing damage and the wider edge grants the wielder a +1 bonus to their damage rolls. While closed, the fan's more fragile components are concealed, making the fan deal bludgeoning damage. In addition, closing the fan allows for easier blocking of opponent's weapons, granting the wielder a +1 shield bonus to their Armor Class.
